Creative conversations abound this month as Marburger Farm Antique Show heads into town. We caught up with owner and partner John Sughrue ahead of the jam-packed festival to learn more.

Tell us a bit about your experience since taking the reins at Marburger.
We are stewards of a Texas icon. Going to Round Top, specifically Marburger Farm, is on the bucket list for anyone who lives in Texas and beyond. What goes on in Round Top twice a year, is really special.
Who comes to town for this multi-day show?
We have a couple of different audiences—one is the professional buyer (interior designer, owner of a design shop, etc.), and we also have generations of Texans, particularly Houstonians.
“This is a true celebration of life in Texas and all things Texan.” –JOHN SUGHRUE
What to expect?
When you get to Marburger, it’s a process of discovery. We have exhibitors from all over the country who come to enjoy this special combination of a beautiful part of Texas (rolling hills and ancient oaks) and its sense of discovery, mixed with the hospitality (which Texas is so well-known for).
What is one of the most special parts?
When I’m there, I feel like I’m experiencing a sense of being in a place where there is something celebratory happening—it’s about community. Everybody is going through that (Tuesday) opening morning with such a great sense of excitement and discovery.
What does the future hold for this beloved event?
We want to preserve its DNA, heritage brand and Texas icon while making it a more accessible/beneficial experience to buyers, exhibitors and enthusiasts.
